why is cosplay treated so differently as an art form jfc
shut the fuck up
do you know how hard it is to sew and pick out the right colours, right makeup, apply the right makeup, dye your hair or buy a wig, make sure you’re doing everything correctly so far, then throw it all together while maintaining a busy lifestyle?
no seriously shut the fuck up
why is it that people are just suddenly “expected” to be great at cosplay the moment they pick it up
i haven’t seen this attitude toward any other art form in this fandom
what the fuck
Everyone starts somewhere. Stop being an ass. Money is tight, time isn’t always on peoples sides either. I spent the last year making my Rose cosplay. It certainly wasn’t the best, but I worked very hard. I got most of my stuff from goodwill because I can’t afford anything else.
yes that comic says everything i want to say without saying it
No offense, but if money is tight and you dont have the time to commit to a costume, you probably shouldnt be cosplaying.
Of course not everyones costume is gonna be a 10/10 or even has to be a 10/10 whether you work on it for a week or a year.
But no matter how poor or time constricted you are, do not cut corners. Either give it your all or dont do it at all.
no offense but you’re kind of an ass.
actually, yes. yes offense. i do mean to be offensive because wow what an asshole thing to say. it’s a hobby, and not everyone is doing it to become “cosupray famuzz” or to be praised for their costuming skill. a hobby is supposed to be FUN, and hobbies are supposed to be about communities of hobbyists supporting and helping each other, and of course there’s going to be people at all different craftsmanship levels because hi dingdingding it’s a fucking hobby. so stop being so damn pretentious, mind your own fucking business, and let people be fucking casual hobbyists if they want to. not everyone’s in here to be a professional and it’s people like you whose attitude turns some people away from cosplay.
if you have to say “no offense” first, reconsider if what you’re saying is actually necessary to be said.
That is really rude. Everyone has to start off from somewhere. People don’t start sewing the second they come out of the womb. Some start earlier in life while others start later in their teens or even in adulthood.
Here is a picture of my first three cosplays and then my last three cosplays. She the gigantic difference in craftsmanship and skill?
Seriously though, cosplay ain’t perfect and everyone starts somewhere. I’ve pulled out closet cosplays many times before I finally got around to being Sephiroth, Bakura, Joey, and Thief King
It’s supposed to be fun, quit it with the high expectations of people’s costumes, seriously.
